#331: Sadism

This is gonna suck.

Ever heard of Postal 2? I have. Mostly because its level of violence got it outright banned here. It’s a first person… errand running game, really, made by Running With Scissors. Taking place over five days the player has tasks to fulfill and then he returns home, like a normal human being.

On Monday, your tasks are to pick up your paycheck, cash it in and buy some milk, not necessarily in that order.

Now, when you pick up your paycheck (right after you are fired, by the founder of RWS no less), a mob of… I’m going to call them “concerned parents” storms the RWS offices (yes, you work for the company that made this game.) and start killing people to prevent the RWS guys from making more violent video games.

As you reach the front of the queue at the bank to cash in the check, robbers enter the bank and hell breaks loose. Alternatively, you can rob the bank itself, in which case a horde of coppers do the same.

Finally, you buy some milk. Or you try to just walk out, triggering the alarm. Third option, exit the store through the “employees only” door (actually labelled “no infidels allowed”), at which point you are attacked by Habib and the Jihadettes (on Broadway next summer).

The game does not require the player to enact any violence on anyone.

But where’s the fucking fun in that. After Vince Desi fired me, I lit him on fire. I robbed the bank, escaped through a secret tunnel and at the Lucky Ganesh I separated various islamists’ heads from their shoulders by way of shovel.

And it only gets better from there on.

Why am I bringing that up? Because RWS’ official Twitter presence mentioned available internships, including for 3D artists. So I sent them my Portfolio.

To make a long story short (too late!)… success.

This is the picture that did it.

You’re gonna be an intern in a videogame company? Sweet! Congratulations!

On a less positive note, it’s weird how your comic’s characters are just floating in a bland grey background.

Call it laziness on my part. Creating environments from scratch gets dull after a while.

      Also, thanks!
